Day 5 - Judgement Day
That morning was a hectic one. We rushed to the holding area early in the morning, to practise and reherse moving in. Unfortunately, we only did it once before it was our turn. Which didn't really matter; I was anxious to get started anyway.
Our coaches went off to get seats in the audience. They appeared very calm, like there wasn't an international competition championship at stake. That's the beauty of teachers. They have the uncanny ability to appear perfectly calm in the most hectic situations.
However, something happened backstage that proved our downfall. The judge backstage said that two of our style items were already being judged somewhere else, and so we needed different style items. We got two different ones, but... (For more information, see later episodes.)
Well, we moved from the holding area to the starting position, and what a sight met our eyes. Our buddy team was there, wearing the Singapore T-shirts we gave them last night, and so were most of the ACS contingent, as well as some RGS girls (this I heard of after the competition).
I lost most of my nervousness at this point. I could tell that Josh, who was standing next to me, was positively rattled, but I was calm as can be. I don't know why, but it's the pre-show I get nervous. I NEVER get stage fright. NEVER.
The performance went off without a hitch (as in, nobody got married >_>). Everything went smoothly. We had the audience laughing so much, that after we finished, they gave us a standing ovation. Wow. Quite rare, that.
After the performance I was on a high for about an hour. I always was like that after performances, jist like the nationals. Only OM has managed to do that for me.
Then, not meaning to boast or anything, but we had people coming up to us on the street, members of our audience; they just kept coming up and telling us how good we were. There was this coach of another ACS team's buddy team, she talked to me for about a quarter of an hour about how good we were, and how she has never seen this sort of energy, etc. Wow again.
We spent the rest of the day watching other ACS teams perform and pin-trading. Never can forget pin-trading.
That night we practised spontaneous with our buddy team. Of course, they spent an hour talking to us about our play, but, as Job always says, that is not the point.
Their coaches got two spontaneous problems ready. (Our coaches were exhausted, so we let them sleep.) One hands-on and a verbal. Our buddy team did the hands-on first while we did the verbal, then we would switch places and watch how the other team did.
Our verbal went pretty well, and I had an interesting answer without meaning to. As in, I had trouble remembering what I was going to say, and was casting around for something to say, when I caught sight of a bear on somebody's shirt. I just said, "A bear can't catch a baldness disease, because... then... it would... be... umm... bear." And I think I got good for that. (The problem, was, by the way, Name an animal and a disease it would be bad to catch. For example, it would be bad for an elephant to catch a head cold.)
For hands-on, we used exactly the same idea our buddy team used. Conicidence? I think not. >_> {Cue the Dah da DAHHHH!}

First you got to Colorado... Denver. Because Ver is braver and Boulder... Episode IV

Day 4 - The Buddy Team's Performance
Today was SMASHING! (Oh, I fired that stupid Private Eye. Didn't like his style of writing.) Our buddy team's performance was totally our of this world! Actually it was on this world, in Colorado, so let me tell you about it.
They did In Your Dreams, and let me tell you, first, that the judges had a weird way of saying they were ready. See, the Head judge would ask if the judges were ready, then ask if the team was ready. So the judges would say, "Dream on!" which was really weird. For our problem, it was, "Leave a message after the beep. BEEP." and for the Div III Get the Message it was "Where's the monster?" Then the head judge would say, "Guys, this isn't In your Dreams... didn't you guys get the message?" >_>
Well, our buddy team's performance was themed around racism. And the monster fed on fear, and stuff. But however, they adopted an a la Stomp type of performance, and didn't say a word. I mean, that REALLY got their message across. It was unique, it was original, it was creative, it was exactly what (I think) the OM judges wanted. (P.S. To any buddy team members or coaches who chanced upon this blog: that's exactly what I told you guys, and that's exactly the truth, so you're not getting another word out of me, coppers! =))
Basically after that we went back to our dorm to finish up the props. We finished at about 8pm in the evening. Our buddy team coach then very helpfully offered to drop our props off at the centre in his rented SUVs. Such nice folks, now, you've gotta learn to be like them. HEAR THAT, ALL YOU SINGAPOREANS?
We slept late that night, even though we had to wake up early the next day. We did last minute backdrop construction, light attachment, TV frame fixing, etc. I think I didn't bathe that night; I was too tired when I got back.

Day 3 - The Day of Ice-cream (Sunday!)
Right, see. My name's Tective. D. Tective. And I've been assigned with writing a report of this day. Totally classified information, of course, so get ready the greenbacks while you're reading this thing.
That day was basically building props and repairing backdrops and, simply, putting back together what we had dismantled on the flight there. Gets a bit haggard, see? What with all the hammers and saws and duct tape we managed to smuggle through the customs, plus glue, there was more work than a 2.12 classroom. Not that that actually says anything, really.
Our buddy team arrived at about lunch. Looked like a friendly bunch, but who knows. This Private Eye job gets you somewhat paranoid about strangers, y'know? Who knows? They could have been wanted by Interpol for the past six years. You just never know.
I took the liberty in drawing up these very simple police dossiers, just in case.
Name: Matt (surname unknown)
Most commonly used phrase: Bobo! (whatever that means)
Age: Div II
Description: Matt doesn't talk very much, but when he does, it's almost always Voot Voot Yah!
Name: Sara (surname withheld to protect privacy)
Most commonly used phrase: NO!
Age: Div II
Description: Umm... no distinguishing features I can make out. No very distinguishing features, but I'm very sure she has her own special talents.
Name: Keith (surname unknown)
Most commonly used phrase: Not sure, but he knows the "I'm my own Grandpa" song
Age: Div II
Description: Tall, thin, and wears glasses (sometimes)m Keith is a lot like me in the group. He knows the "I'm my own Grandpa" song, and the whole team knows the Beer/Coke/Twinkie parody of Do-Re-Mi from Sound of Music.
Name: Laura (surname unknown)
Most commonly used phrase: N/A (At least, none that I know of)
Age: Div II
Description: Laura is the most quiet of the group. I didn't get to speak to her much, so little information was gathered.
Name: Allison (surname unknown)
Most commonly used phrase: N/A (At least, none that I know of)
Age: Div II
Description: Allison, a.k.a. Alli, is like a mix of Laura and Sara: Not very talkative, and not very distingushing. >.>
Name: Lindsay (surname withheld to protect privacy)
Most commonly used phrase: MICAH!
Age: Div II
Description: Has relationship problems with Micah (see below). Basically Micah grosses Lindsay out and she retaliates. Then he retaliates back. But I think they're just having their fun, you know, from a detective's point of view.
Name: Micah (surname unknown)
Most commonly used phrase: *CENSORED*
Age: Div II
Description: Has relationship problems with Lindsay (see above).Basically Micah grosses Lindsay out and she retaliates. Then he retaliates back. But I think they're just having their fun, you know, from a detective's point of view.
Well, to sum it up, our buddy team was one of the best you could ever find, maybe even better than that. There were tremendous similarities between their team and ours, like the fact that Lindsay was just short enough to be the target of friendly teasing, just like we do with Henry. What fun.
In the afternoon the buddy team went to repair props that had been damaged, just like what we had to do. More vague memories of this time delude me, and I cannot remember much. Thus we can conclude that it must not have been very important, or that a passing mugger hit me on the head with a cudgeon too hard. A Private Eye's job is never an easy one.

Day 2 - The Day of Reckoning
What happened on the second day? Ah, I'm... losing words... (-Premir Romanov, Red Alert 2)
Herrick woke us up at about 5 am that day. Which meant that instead of the targeted half an hour I planned for getting ready for breakfast, I now had one and a half hours to get ready for breakfast. Naturally I was done in one-third of that time, so we - that is to say, Herrick, Job and I - went for a walk.
The walk was nothing much. Just around the block and back, into the field, blowing dandelions and commenting on the grass which was so different from Singapore grass. The ground was so cold you'd swear it was wet when you lay down on it, but when you touched the back of your shirt it was dry. I think Mr Quek and Josh tried to jog all the way to where we were supposed to perform, but only managed half the distance.
After breakfast we went to rackey our performing stage - thus, the day of reckoning. We spent about fifteen minutes at on stage thinking that it would be ours when we realised it was just the stage in the holding room. Our real stage had no boundaries, so no 80 POINT PENALTY! (Sorry, just had to do that. It's the penalty you get if you or some prop falls off the stage.)
But this posed a new problem. The main element of our play meant that we had to change behind our backdrop but there was not enough space if we hanted enough acting space onstage. The judges were so close you could reach out and smack them on the cheek, but that was not a wise idea to do to someone who held the decision of life or death over your puny actor's/actress's shoulders.
We followed the other teams to their acting stages because we had to stay in a group. That's the main element in OM - teamwork. It was cool traversing all over the university campus and trading pins (more of which I will talk of at the end of the whole thing).
After lunch, I can't remember what we did. I told you, I can't remember mst of what happened on this day at all. It's like aliens abducted me and erased my memory of that day because I had spotted their spaceship or something. Or maybe it was the MIB. I fear that I may never remember what happened furing that space in time. Sigh.
I think on the second night was the opening ceremony. That was a whole lot of fun, with great music, officials throwing T-shirts into the crowd and pin-trading. (Pin-trading is one of the basic FUNdamentals in OM, so it'll come up a lot.) Unfortunately, the speakers were not humourous as I expected them to be (it isa creative competition, after all) but otherwise it went smoothly. It's quite fun to see halk a thousand teenagers do the YMCA dance deliriously while participating in it as well.
We had to walk the way home. It's fun to walk back to your dorm which is a hundred miles away in the dark while people are whizzing by on the shuttle bus sleeping or settling down comfortably. Still, it beats waiting for the bus.
[Song of the post] This too.

[Quote of the post] You think this is over? There's still next year... {cue thunder and lightning}
[Song of the post] The Beer/Coke/Twinkie Song
We're back from Colorado and let me tell you people, it was really great, and everything was just... PEACHY! It's blogging time!
Day 1 - The Longest Day
Well, it WAS the longest day. We reached the airport at 5am in the morning and only reached our destination at 5pm at night. On the same day. But we spent at least 18 hours in between. No, your maths isn't wrong. We went westwards, so gained a day.
Nothing much happened the first day. I think I watch more movies out of cinemas than in them. On the plane(s), I watched The Incredibles again and Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Job was playing with somebody's gameboy and I was watching.
Unfortunate Events was quite interesting, as it turned out. I don't read the books, but it seems quite interesting. Jim Carrey is the best when it comes to jobs like this. Love the work of the make-up artists. The best. (For a full review of the Incredibles, check previous posts.)
I slept most of the flight(s). Flying UA is so boring when you've got no personal TV. Bah. I didn't even write TNN like I said I would.
Colorado is pretty neat. It's cool, hot only in the daytime. I fell asleep on the bus ride to the University... AGAIN!I usually fall asleep on the bus rides in America.
We spent 1 hour guarding the bags outside the University hostels while Ms Loh went to register. Mr Quek went trigger-happy and took dozens of photos of us in various... how should I say... unusual poses. You don't want to see them. Really, you don't want to. Really.
I can't really remember what happened that night. Actually, I don't think much did. We waited and waited, finally realised that we were at the wrong end of the complex, dragged all the luggage half-way across campus, got our free-food wristbands (red) and had dinner in half an hour before the cafeteria closed. Then we all met in my room (a disadvantage of having the biggest room) and was briefed by our coaches, and Mr Quek introduced a fine system. No, as in, he had to fine people, not that the system was fine. Well, actually, it would have been, if it had worked. (Based on a system of trust-payment, obviously nobody admitted to any of the crimes, namely: swearing, shouting and insulting team members.)
I was bunking with Job and Herrick. Not the best combination, I can tell you that. If you recall the OEP post, Herrick says "goodnight" once every five minutes, bounced all over his air-mattress and wakes up at dawn (5am if I'm not mistaken) and then wakes everybody else up.
Job, on the other hand, makes weird noises and goes on complaining about his pin collection (Herrick does this too). Also, he's most usually in the company of the RGS teams in his free time.
But otherwise, the room was nice, the top bunk was nice and the roommates were not too bad. Except for the fact that every time I sat up in bed, my head hit the ceiling or the blasted pipe which somebody (a previous occupant of the room) had written in very neat handwriting: "I love you guys." So the first thing I did when we unpacked the props and stuff was to recycle the bubble wrap and cover the whole HEPP pipe with the stuff. My forehead never hurt again. Not much, anyway.
More coming soon!

[Song of the post] The Night Santa Went Crazy - Weird Al
Sorry I couldn't blog on Friday the 13th - Blogger wasn't working. Too coincidental. Friday and Saturday I had OM, so I only came back at 11 and couldn't blog.
Well, OM's moving at a faster pace now, since we have 4 days before we leave for Colorado. I'm hoping that Mr. Quek gets a brainwave for the Membership sigh tomorrow because I really have no idea. We have to perform in front of all the teachers tomorrow, by the way. Scary. >.>
I got new brown shows for OM. They're really cool! They have orange soles. Sweet!
There was a forum problem today. To put it simply: Demel mutinied, Mike got angry, deleted Demel, Demel got angry, deleted Mike, made new forum with Andrew. Stupid, ain't it?
*Sigh* I don't feel like writing this time of night and with all the happenings today. Will blag after I return from Colorado in 2 weeks time.
Oh, TCG fans, go to this website called Spycraft. It's some CCG that Singapore got featured in. I'm not done reading it, but the art's superb, and the gameplay (as far as I can tell) looks great. Go! Go! Go!

Well, it's almost exams, and I can't believe I'm blogging. Oh well, it's just a couple of lists.
Signs that you've done one too many 长文缩短:
- You read your 理解问答 until the 130th word, then after that, for every ten words you start minusing marks.
- Your speech comprises of not more than 130 words, and is very concise and to the point.
- You start missing articles such as 'the' and 'a'.
- You start cancelling out words in the instructions.
- Your 作文 stops at 130 words.
Bad excuses for cheating in your exam:
- The guy next to me was doing it as well!
- Cheating? I wasn't cheating. Looking at someone elses paper isn't cheating. It's copying.
- Yeah, I was cheating, yeah. Oh look, there's a flying pig! And George Bush is parachuting into that warehouse wearing a pink tutu...
- So what? You got a problem with that?
- But sir, you were looking at my paper too...
- HEY! LOOK OVER THERE!
- The only thing I copied was his name.
- I'm not insured against failing tests.
- Why? You trying to cheat for your paper as well? Well, go copy someone else!
- There wasn't a handy photocopier nearby.
You've been studying too hard for your physical science exam when:
- You know every atomic number for every element.
- You have the word 'Proton' on the back of your shirt because you want to keep a positive attitude.
- You love the letters PSC even if you were in the Public Speaking Competition.
- You dream about trucks with corrosive liquid crashing into bridges and spilling its contents into rivers.
- You find alkalis to be a very basic topic.
- Instead for solving in maths, you dissolve.
- You have to alkali down after studying.
- You can verify the pH level of anything just by touch.
- You must have balance in your life.
- You don't use the word OK anymore because you know the real chemical formula is K2O.
Signs that you been studying way too much:
- You haven't slept in three days.
- You have the notes engraved in your mind.
- When somebody asks you a simple question, you reply with a essay.
- When somebody asks you a question, you first ask how many marks it is.
- There are few books you haven't read.
- Fun? What is 'Fun'? I have vague memories...
- Your eyes are constantly moving back and forth even though there isn't a page of notes under your nose.
- Almost every room in your house is a "study".
- You wish you could be a book - revised edition.
- You can quote from the dictionary.
- When someone asks you for the time, you reply, "1819!"
- You still have dinner from three days ago lying on your table.
- You recite facts everywhere you go.
- You know the first 314 Pythagorean Triples.
- You cringe whenever somebody says the word "wrong".
That'll have to do for now. Good luck for your exams.

| Your Birthdate: March 14 |
| With a birthday on the 14th of the month (5 energy) you are inclined to work well with people and enjoy them. You are talented and versatile, very good at presenting ideas, and you are also very good at organization and systematizing. You may have a tendency to get itchy feet at times and need change and travel. You tend to be very progressive, imaginative and adaptable. Your mind is quick, clever and analytical. A restlessness in your nature may make you a bit impatient and easily bored with routine, and rebel against it. You have a tendency to shirk responsibility. |

From the Extremely Disturbing News Archive
[Quote of the post] I thought a barberque was when hairdressers lined up.
[Song of the post] Upside Down - A-Teens
Sameul Teo was convicted of discrimination and acts of phyiscal discrimination yesterday.
Evidence at the scene of the crime reports that there were numerous accomplices, all of which have been identified and detained.
The actual act of discrimination, against persons anonymous here, was the key to the solving of the crime. The evidence, a disgusting crudly-drawn interpretation of persons anonymous, has been withheld by the proper authorties.
In court, Judge Lee has passed sentence (a lot of sentences, but never mind), but has choses to be lenient, letting them out on bail. The case is now closed.
In other unrelated news, mid-year exams are coming up. With the effect of this new regime, blog posts will be getting more infrequent and shorter. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

It's a plague of EPIDEMIC proportions...
[Quote of the post] Dang that blasted Darren Low...
[Song of the post] Albuquerque - Wierd Al Yankovic
Argh. Everybody's sick. Physically. My whole family (except me), Kevin Wong, Darren Wee, Herrick Ong, and many other people I don't know. It's like, an epidemic, y'know? Flu epidemic. I wonder if it'll be worse than SARS...
Argh... Darren Low has found our forums, joined as a number of stupid fake members, and spammed across all seventeen topics. Dang that blasted Darren Low... The more trustworthy members of the council have repelled him off, butI have a feeling he will strike at dawn (or earlier, if you get my drift)
Argh... Ragnarok... Stupid Darren Low... I pity myself for having the same surname as him.
Argh... just an update... 'til next time.

We lost. We lost OM.
[Quote of the post] You better not be suicidal, or I'll kill you.
[Song of the post] We Are the Champions - Queens
Oh man. OM today was in shambles. Yesterday's spontaneous as well.
For spontaneous, we got a hands-on problem, which everybody knows is the most difficult of them all. We forgot to clarify whether we could use the stuff we had on our bodies, and Josh took off his pants. And our whole structure collasped at the last moment.
Today, I forgot half my lines, our set fell over, the judges were all stiff and unmoving, Demel tripped over the wire, and Josh's hat fell off.
And you know what the worst part is?
You actually believed that story.
WE WON! WE WON OM! WE'RE GOING TO THE WORLD FINALS, BABY!!!
Haha! You actually fell for it! My thoughts are now like, whirling around in my head and I can't seem to organise.
Well, our spontaneous was really quite OK. Our problem was to come up with a silly holiday and how people celebrate it.
Hey everybody, it's Sunday! Let's celebrate by eating 10 tonnes of ice-cream!
Our coach and seniors didn't get this at first. Too slow.
Gid (Verbal King):
Today's Bhangra day, where you screw a lightbulb with one hand and pat a dog with the other.
He think's the judges didn't get it.
I thought some others yesterady as well, but that was after the competition.
Today is D-Day, w-where e-everyone s-speaks l-like t-this.
Today is Pinball Day, where everyone goes around bouncing off random objects and going, "TILT!"
It's the Ides of March. Grab a dagger, stab a plate of Caesar Salad and go, "Et tu, Brute?"
Acting today was REALLY FUN! Nobody made any mistakes, and when we finished, the judges said that after they had watched us, there was no more competition. We were REALLY GOOD! I'm ECSTATIC!
We won GOLD and we're going to the United States of America to compete in the WORLD FINALS. And we're going to win there, too.
The only thing I found funny was: our play. No, seriously, before our act, I had nerves - I mean, doesn't everybody? But it was during the prize presentation that I really had MEGA-NERVOUSNESS. I mean, everyone was very confident we'd win, so what if we don't? But we won anyway, so WHO CARES?
We're going to the USA!
And I really like today's quote.
And I still can't believe you fell for that.

"I don't know what I've been told,

OM IS SO FUN!
So fun... Lalala...
Anyway, I don't need to blog about OM. Half the people who read my blog already are in OM, and the other half don't care. So I'll just say we rehersed and made stuff and rehersed some more. And ate. A lot. And rehersed some more.
Job gave me a ride home today. His father's a lot like mine - jovial, and strict at the right (?) times, and likes giving lectures. I kinda of like him - he doesn't seem to be the sort of person who scolds a lot.
Come to think of it, I don't really know many of my friend's fathers. Jeremy Kong's is nice, but a bit strict. Juzzie's is nice too, but a bit quiet. I've only seen Demel, Gid's and Hsieh Wen's fathers. The rest - I don't know.
Ah, man I'm tired. I won't be blogging much this week (I haven't actually been blogging much, for that matter) and we're supposed to be asking for homework extensions this week as the competitions on the 16th. I really hope we win. I think we will, too.
Sorry this post is too short.

I hate today.
[Quote of the post] Today -CENSORED-.
[Song of the post] A Whole New School - Me.
Today really -CENSORED-. School was okay-ish, but for music I couldn't really sing well because of my sickness. Good thing we're only performing next week.
OM today was -CENSORED-. My costume was horrible, and I didn't know much of the new amendments. However, that wasn't the bad part.
We had to stay until 6:30 pm. I was supposed to go off at five-thirty. I left at 6:30, caught a taxi, got stuck in a jam for on hour, owed the taxi-driver $15.90 when I only had twelve. He was -CENSORED- -CENSORED-, I tell you.
Argh, today just makes me want to say -CENSORED- and -CENSORED- -CENSORED- -CENSORED-. If all the HEPP -CENSORED- -CENSORED- -CENSORED- were -CENSORED- -CENSORED- I could -CENSORED- -CENSORED- my -CENSORED-. Hydroelectric Power Plant.
Until next time.

Dis-easen't funny...
[Quote of the post] You can infect my body, but laughter is always contagious.
[Song of the post] In ACS - Me and Shaun (Parody)
Argh... I'm sick AGAIN! And it's only been a couple of weeks. I feel nauseated.
Hmm... is it coincidence that the last post was Exam Fever and this week I get sick? Hmm...
Anyway, it was high fever, 38 degrees Celcius, this morning when I woke up. And all my joints were aching. I couldn't even walk. Ouch. The trip to the doctor seemed like I was paralysed. Every step I took sent a jolting shock up my leg. Argh.
The doctor says he thinks I got normal flu, but we can't rule out dengue or malaria, he says. Ouch. MAJOR Ouch. Dengue is deadly, if I'm not mistaken. And so is malaria. I hope I don't die.
Skipped school today, but staying at home wasn't much better. If you recall, I'm having upgrading at my house, so throughout the morning, the stupid drilling sound was pounding into my head. I couldn't even think straight, let alone sleep well.
Dangit, Gid wants me to go for OM tomorrow. I told him I would try, but if I still can't walk yet, I can't. I really can't. Sorry.
I really hope I don't have dengue. Or malaria. Please.

Exam Fever
[Quote of the post] I GOT MORE THAN YOU!!!
[Song of the post] We're Dead - The Failures. Real: I'm Still Here - Johnny Rzenik
Well, it's that time of the year again. The post-exam period. When the most people die of heart attack. I'm talking about the parents, of course. The students just commit suicide.
No, seriously, ZQ was feeling HEPP suicidal on the first day. totally90 too. Luckily I convinced them to stay alive.
I didn;t do too well, either. I only failed one subject: Chinese. Almost everybody did. I beat ZQ. That's why he was suicidal.
I got really high for English, the sciences and... that's it really. The others I didn;t do so well.
I guess I'm the sort of average character. Not so good in everything. Or, at leat, good in some things, and bad in others to compensate. *Sigh.* Nobody's perfect.
Argh, but I can't stop feeling this competive streak in me. Everytime Kevin (the other one) gets more than me, I can't help feeling a slightly jealous. And murderous. But I quash that feeling. Kev is my friend. Ah, I guess it's just the same-name deal.
Just watched Treasure Planet again today. It's going to be a classic, I tell you. It's one of those movies, which you can watch again and again without getting sick of it. It's wonderful.
OK, going now. Bye.

[Song of the post] Nothing Yet - Still
What if there were real worlds where our nightmares live and wait for us?
The Ledgendeer trilogy by Alan Gibbons, in my opinion, is one of the best trilogies ever written.
Ever wondered why myths seem to revolve around the number three? The three heads of Cerebus. The nine rivers of Hades. The nine worlds of the Norse myths. The three muses, the three Furies, the three Norns. The trinity of evil. The trinity of trinities. All multiples of three.
But that is the language of the game and its Gamesmaster. He wants to take over our world, and he is using the game to do just that.
Just imagine. A game in which fantasy is reality. But using cutting-edge technology, you don't just play the game in Virtural Reality... more like Parallel Reality - you don't just see and hear, but taste, feel, smell. In a year's time, there will be one in every teenager's room.
But that's just the problem. You don't play the game, the game plays you. Just think: one moment, a teenager will be battling a demon in the game - the next moment, it will be there in his room. The game opens up a gateway between our world and the world of myths.
But in every myth, there is of course, a hero. This hero comes in the form of Pheonix Graves, a fourteen-year-old teenager from England (British writer). Together with his friend Laura Osibona, they travel into the world of myths three times: Shadow of the Minotaur, Vampyr Legion and Warriors of the Raven; Greek myth, vampires and Norse myth.
They battle with the Gamesmaster's pawns countless times, with the help of Andreas, a great-uncle's spirit who still communicates with Pheonix. Defeating the Gamesmaster is no easy task, especially when he has the alligence of Steven Adams, Pheonix's ex-school bully who entered the game, but chose not to return.
In this thrilling trilogy, it's gaming brought to the next level. So, will this game ever emerge on the market?
For the purposes of the game, yes.
EDIT: Okay, just doing this test...

*MEW*
[Quote of the post] "What fools are we to live in a generation in which war is a computer game for our children." -Tony Benn, MP.
[Song of the post] Nothing at the Moment - Really.
I like the quote, although I have no idea who Tony Benn is. It's taken from this book called Shadow of the Minataur written by Alan Gibbons. It's the first in the series of the Ledgendeer series, which I just started reading. I have to say, it's really cool.
MEW (Math Enrichment Workshop) was really fun and I enjoyed it a lot, which is the politically correct answer. My opinion is that it was really quite fun and I enjoyed it a lot. Really.
I'm too tired out to give a blow-by-blow account, but let's just say it was really fun and leave it at that, huh?
I don't fell like writing write - sorry, right now, so please excuse me. Maybe some other time.
Until next time!

Happy Birthday!
[Quote of the post] I'm 14 and officially old!
[Song of the post] Happy Birthday - Folksong
It's my party... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! And everyone else born on the 14th of March. Like Albert Einstein. And Billy Crystal. I'm a Pisces, are you?
I'm so happy it's my birthday... I'm officially fourteen at 11:53 pm tionight. I can't wait!
Too bad I came down with another sickness today. Stupid relapses. Went to the doctor, wasted 45 mins just waiting for him. He said it's all because of the haze. And the upgrading we're having here at my place. It's so unhealthy.
I'm off now... I have MEW tomorrow. Math Enrichment Workshop. And, just for fun, I hope that everything is themed in cats...

Cruise Missile Arrived
[Quote of the post] Birthday in 11 hours!
[Song of the post] A Grill is not a Home - Spongebob Squarepants
Sorry I'm late in posting. I haven't been able to access the computer since I got back. Ah well.
The cruise rocked. There was so much free time, it caused inflation. Sorry, lame pun. Never mind. It's just that the Futurescape project spoilt it all. I had to present, and I totally messed up. Henry was standing there with me, but that's all he did - stand there. And look cute. I messed up everything. At least I made some new friends. :)
Goodie... it's my birthday in a couple of hours' time. I can't wait. Apart from the fact that three-quarters of my family is sick, and that I have a stupid NPCC hike in the morning, and piano class in the afternoon, I think it's going to be great.
Watched Batman of the Future: Return of the Joker last night. It was really cool. I got lots of ideas for TNN.
Waiting for my birthday... see you in 11 hours time.

That's just SICK
[Quote of the post] TNN Mania!
[Song of the post] The Recycle Song - Rocko's Modern Life
Bleh... I'm sick again. For the forty-seventh time in my life. Or is it forty-eight? I've lost count.
I hate getting sick. Especially when it's a holiday and there's nothing to skip. Oh well, at least I skipped Piano Class.
What did I catch? Oh, the usual: sore throat, sneeze, fever... you common flu. Nothing to be worried about. I just hope I get well in time for the cruise.
My brother's paranoid about being sick. He thinks his body's immune system isn't that strong. So he doesn't touch what I touch, can't come to near me, and doesn't go where I go. So I basically have an invisible force shield surrounding me wherever I go.
*cough cough* Ehh... not feeling too well... see ya next time...

Lost on Founder's Day
[Quote of the post] The best is yet to be. (It's stuck in my head.)
[Song of the post] I Will Follow You - Sister Act
The only thing I found out at Founder's Day today was that all the principals were as boring as Dr. Ong. Lost and found. Ha ha.
Anyway, Founder's day was a total waste of five hours and air-conditioning. I didn't even see my cousin. Just being bored for five hours straight. What fun.
Gid's just swearing on my MSN messenger. I still cannot understand how some Christians can swear and curse. Isn't that against God's preachings? Or something. Anyway, even if it isn't, it still gives Christians a bad image.
Nothing much to talk about today... except that TNN is officially LIVE with 4 chapters! Whoopee! Forums are down now, though. Bah.

Next Extinction: Blogs
[Quote of the post] Heard of the Golden Rule? The people with the gold make the rules.
[Song of the post] I Can Show You the World - Aladdin
The Age of the Blog has come and gone. A new type of public broadcasting has evolved: The Online Radio... or whatever it's called.
Take a look around. ZQ has killed his blog. Shaun and Cyberworm haven't posted in months. Neither has Bryan. Ellius hasn't blogged since last year. Jun Yi not in three weeks at least. All blogs. Killed by the tyranny of ignorance.
OK, I have no idea what I just said.
My blog doesn't seem to be dying. I have, like 238 visitors. Cool.
Ooh... just watched Aladdin two day ago. You just can't beat the classics. Ribon Williams makes the perfect genie, and the songs are brilliant. Anyone got Disney Soundtrack to lend me? No? Any magic lamps then? None too? Oh well...
Today's Honours Day was a waste of three hours. And I got fed up with the year director for getting all worked up with a little noise. I had been running up and down the school looking for the key, and what does he do?
"Class Chairmen have to stand if their CTs or PCTs are not here yet."
Argh.
There was some guy who won seven awards. SEVEN! I bet he's going to take over the world or something when he grows up.
Sigh... tomorrow is another (boring) day. Founder's Day for ACS(I). Four hours in the Indoor Stadium listening to some old guys reminiscing about their childhood. Whoopee. And I have to be there earlier too, since I'm chairman...
Oh well... At least there's GEP Camp to look forward to in a week's time. We're going on a cruise, we're going on a cruise... I'm bunking with Kev Wong this time. I don't care.
Lalala... my birthday's in two weeks time! I can hardly wait. But yet, I feel a deep hole inside, when I think of the STUPID NPCC HIKE ON THE EXACT SAME DAY!!! Still, it's only in the morning. Luckily. And there's Math Enrichment Workshop after that too. Yippee!
OK... going to write TNN now... check it out on the forums!

Here comes the POSTman...
[Quote of the post] Multiple exclamation marks is a sign of stupidity!!!
[Song of the post] Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee from Sister Act 2
Because of the increasing barrage of complaints on my tagboard, I will post. Happy now?
Well, here's the week in brief (not underwear: it's brief not briefs).
I WON A GOLD AND SILVER MEDAL FOR SWIMMING! It's not me, so much as it is... ME! MUHAHAHA!!! I got gold for 100m Backstroke and silver for House Medley Relay. I'M A MEDAL WINNER! Oh yeah, go UE, it's your birthday, uh-huh...
I had my first NPCC Training on friday (missed the rest). I had a lot to catch up on, especially badges, promotions, drills... It was pretty slack, though. Hope it's like that the rest of the year...
Hsieh Wen lent me Generals and I have to say IT ROCKS! compared to Red Alert 2 (which is the only other RTS game I have). HW says that it's slow on his computer, but I have a 1 GB RAM! YEAH!
Two history assignments in a term... what is the world coming to... Mdm June Ng's work could be fun to do, if they were more interesting and creative... *hint hint*
Am starting on a new story called The New Naphtalians on the forums. Basically about all my classmates with superpowers fighting the evils of homework, donation drives and UYOs. I think I have started a trend, because I have at least 5 people who want to draw the character designs, 3 who want to draw a comic, and 3 who want to write a story based on the same characters and title but with different storyline. This never worked with Uncle Edna...
I looks like with the beginning of the forum, blogs have become yesterday's news... but I will continue to type until my last breath... or at least until I get REALLY bored and stop. But that's a different story.
I've got exams next week so I don't think I'll be posting much. And a GEP camp in 3 weeks time, so that's a blank post too. Have a nice For the Love of Mike Day!
EDIT:
Oh my... at least I'm not as bad as Michael and Jun Yi... Haha, their brains are almost four-fifths female! Hahaha... But I think the questions are biased: the goody-goody answers would be put as female. That really bites.

Happy Chinese New Year! (Belated)
[Quote of the post] This year of the chicken, have something to crow about.
[Song of the post] Accidentally in Love - Counting Crows
Hi! I haven't posted in about 5 days, and since I don't like changint the dates on my posts, I have to say everything here.
I love Chinese New Year! It's not so much about the Hongbaos or the money, it more about the FOOD! OH YEAH! Prawn crackers, Love Letters, Pai Bang Kek, Sweets, more sweets, more love letters, I don't really like pineapple tarts so..., almond cookies, and much MUCH more! Yum yum.
Speaking about Hongbaos, I got quite a haul this year. Maybe it's just because I have more married cousins now, or maybe the bank kindly "lent" me a whole lot of cash... Just kidding.
OM today was a complete fiasco. I went late because I overslept. Wow. There's a first time for everything. Anyway, Isaac wasn't there, and Mr. Quek and DT was there, and luckily noone scolded me.
Oh yeah, watched Constantine yesterday. It was a cool show, with great effects, and the suspense was all placed in the right places... with a bus suddenly driving by gives excellent shock. I was sitting next to Kev Wong and he was cowering in his seat half the time... OK, maybe I'm exaggerating... (Sorry Kev!)
Oh man, still spending too much time on the forums... oh well...
Until Next Time!

[Quote of the post] What's a hectare? A Trojan prince!
[Song of the post] Man in the Mirror - Michael Jackson
Happy Chinese New Year! Almost.
Sorry I haven't been posting too often. I've been cooped up with the new GEPers forum (of which I'm going to add the link). I'm a moderator there. Whoopee!
I'm starting a new story based on my class. Check out the forums to find out more!
Yong Jun, Malaysian scholar, has been reported to be having measles and has gone back home for Chinese New Year. How sad.
I watched Mary Poppins two nights ago on the Disney Channel. Yes, Disney Channel. (Connecting with my inner youth.) Anyway, it was a terrific show; it's so good I have nothing to say. So, whenever you have nothing to say, there is a word to say, which goes...
SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS
What fun!
I mean, musical movies were a hit of an era past, but this is the kind of movie that move people. It has a moral, good song and dance, and none of the American new-age man-and-woman sex, gunfights, huge explosions, blah blah blah.
Ah well... see ya next time...

[Song of the post] I'm Still Here - Johnny Rzeznik
What a nice PC lesson we had today. (PC stands for Pastoral Care if you didn't already know. Singapore is the land of acronyms galore. Oh, and the first statement is loaded with sarcasm, by the way. Nice is not a nice word.)
Well, today's PC lesson was about leadership. Leadership. Can you believe it? And here's the class throwing out ideas about what a leader should be, blah blah blah.
Can you see it from my point of view? Isn't it ironic that the class will see what they think are characteristics make a good leader, all the while, they don't listen to me. How ironic. No one listens to me. *sobs*

Mega Movie Marathon
[Quote of the post]
"What's a uvula?"
"It's that little dangling thing in his..."
"BOXER SHORTS! Let's go!"
"No, not that dangling thing, the one in his throat!"
"I knew that."
[Song of the post] Dancing Queen - ABBA
Whee! Saturday Night Fever! 3 Mega Movies in one midnight! (Many 'M's)
Movie #1 - Osmosis Jones
Osmosis Jones tells the story of... Osmosis Jones, a white blood cell cop in the City of Frank, a human with disgusting eating habits. So he gets infected by a killer virus and Osmosis has to save the day, making a friend, falling in love and dethroning a selfish mayor along the way, blah blah blah.
What really makes this movie great is the reality of it all, and the creativity needed to create a human body into a city. It's creative, unique, and puts forth the messahe really clearly.
Rating: 4 stars ****
Movie #2 - Signs
Well, I missed a bit of this movie because it clashed with Osmosis Jones, but I saw enough of it to get the gist.
Signs is about alien invasion, crop circles, and Mel Gibson. But most of all, it's about Mel Gibson. The good thing about this show is the effects, the storyline and suspense. The suspense was great, even if my brother was scared out of his wits and was using the remote control as a gun.
Rating: 4 stars ****
Movie #3 - The Incredible Hulk
The Incledible Hulk was nothing incredible... I mean, he only turned green about 5 times and didn't really smash up bad guys and stuff... all he was up against were some GIs with guns that couldn't even pierce his skin, so...
The animation wasn't even that good. His face looked horribly distorted. And, may I mention (actually, I can, since it's my blog and I can do whetever I want so sucks to you), that Hulk jumps over canyon walls like a giant flea. In Marvel vs. Capcom, he only jumps like a boulder (which is hardly at all). Is that fair? Nooo.......
Rating: 3 stars ***

Nooo.......

You got a friend in me...
[Quote of the post] If you think it's daylight robbery, then come buy it tonight!
[Song of the post] Dancing Queen - ABBA
My class stinks. It's not smelly, no. It's attitude stinks.
Here's a good example: Yesterday, I needed some volunteers for today's Charity Bazaar to help man the stall and stuff. And who volunteered? No one. Only after some persuasion did Gid and Loius volunteer. You'd think, in a class of 28, at least one person will have nothing on on a Saturday afternoon and will be willing to sacrifice two hours of their time to help their class chairman, but noooo...
You'd think being class chairman would be a great job, one-in-a-lifetime experience. But try being class chair when no-one in class listens to you, it takes ten mintes to quiten them down, and half the time they're not listening to you at all. What fun. Why elect me as class chair if you don't listen to me at all? Or is that your intention? You know that I don't get angry or violent easily so you can continue to make noise and run around class without me bringing out whips or nuclear missiles or stuff like that? Selfish @!#&!CENSORED!%@*
*As with all generalizations, there are of course exceptions. So if you're reading this but you know that you're good and nice in class then don't take it to heart. Sorry.*
Charity Bazaar today was great. Gid kept up aggresive sales and we managed to sell all our cards. *Thanks Gid and Loius for coming down. Thanks to Daniel, Henry and Josh for helping.*
OK Gotta go now. Stupid computer is slowing down. @$!*$%@$! again.

Very Important Purr-son
Do you like cats? I like cats. They're purr-fect. I don't have a cat myself, but they're cute... and furry... and... cute...
WARNING: LOTS OF CAT PUNS COMING UP
Well, just two days ago, someone, I don't know who, locked up one of the stray cats that run around our school. That was cruel, 'cos, I mean, it was shivering in there. It looked scared, and kept staring at passing humans fearfully, as if another one was going to stuff it into another cage. I don't know if they even fed it.
So anyway, every time I manage to leave class, I'd go visit it, y'know? Because it's cite and shivering and locked up in a cage. I mean, it's a bit like me - locked up in my mind drowning in my own corny jokes because my family can't apprecate them. And so, well, it was a nice feeling when I went yesterday and found that the cage was open and the cat was gone. I'd thought that it was either free or at least out of its cage. Then Gid had to go ruin it by saying they drowned it, or put it to sleep, or filled a sack with bricks, put the cat in and dropped it from the 4th level... Trust Gid to ruin a nice fuzzy feeling.
NOTE: END OF BARRAGE OF CORNY CAT PUNS
Now that I mention it, there weren't many of them, were there?
This year, English is going to be tough. So is Lit. I mean, Mr. Lee's all right, but he could be a bit more interesting. I mean, using a comic to teach about plot, characterization and theme is all well and done, but... er... let's just say I think DT could do better. (P.S. Sir, if you're reading this, you'll forget everything you read when you close this window. Okay? Okay. Good.)
Whoops... gotta go now... I think I'll blog about my classmates next...

Discrimination... It's a Hate Sensation...
My title, like Gid's, is from a song. Unlike Gid's, it's an edited version. Edited by me. Guess where it's from.
Like Gid, I noticed GEP discremination during the OEP camp. Remember my Jay post? This one's going to be a bit like it.
GEPs have been discriminated for decades. At least, I think so. The extremes have always been shunned. Read Flowers for Algernon? We had to do it for Lit last year. The main character was dimwitted, but he had a good heart. Still people mocked him because he was stupid. Then after he had an operation to make him a supergenius, people shied away from him yet again.
It has been hard not being the norm. Do you think we want to be different? It is how we are. Why do you discriminate us? Because you're jealous? You want to be smart too? To be more intelligent? To be clever enough to be mocked by your own kind? Really? Didn't think so.
Because you're scared of us? Why? We're humans too. Will we take over the world in a matter of days because of our superior intellect? Not likely. How can we take over the world if you all are blocking our progress? Will we be ever accepted into society like this? Will I ever stop asking questions that nobody will answer?
I also can see discrimination inside our own groups. You can't blame J Kong for being who he is, just like you can't blame us for being who we are. Who cares if he's got an MP3 player? He's a teenager, just like you. Why can't he like music? Is that wrong? If you want Mainstreamers to accept you, the you have to start accepting yourself, and your classmates. You're all in this together.
That's all for today, it's getting late.
And when you discriminate it generates hate...

OEP - Overall: Extremely Perfect
OEP ROCKS MY SOCKS!!! DESARU IS FUN!!!
As you may have gathered from above, OEP was extremely fun and I hope we could do it again sometime. Right, off we go...
Day 1 - Day of Reckoning, because I reckoned OEP would be a killer
Well, the day was a really exciting one, mixed with fear and desperation. Arriving at school at 0745 hrs is no mean feat, I can tell you that. It was havoc, especially since the previous group hadn't left yet. Shame.
It took us two hours to get to Desaru and I assure you that if not for Demel, I would have died of boredom. We spent some time singing Irish Drinking Pub songs before doing scenes from a cap. We had to use a cap because we did not have a hat. At least half the class was listening to their MP3 players. I will never know why teenagers would like to pump music into their ears for two hours. The songs aren't even that nice.
When we arrived at the Golden Beach Hotel, obviously there was a briefing. Teachers always hold breifings before activities. And thus, the basic punishment of pumping position was declared upon us all.
After lunch, our guide brought us to the roadside to explore the many medicinal plants that grew rampant in Malaysia. And in Singapore too. Rampant. Huh. Nice word.
Anyway, we learnt that even if you were stuck in a tropical rainforest, there are a number of plants can help cure you of numerous diseases. The problem is that they all taste bitter. Oh, and Daniel and Darrell liked the Wild Passion Fruit, for reasons I am not going to discuss.
After this herbology lesson, there was another lesson about Pitcher Plants. They usually grow on the pitcher's mound in baseball stadiums. No, not really. They grow in not-so-fertile soil, and feed on insects to sustain their nutrition. What fun. Imagine having to eat insects all your life. If you don't live in Africa, that is. (No offence.)
Whee! After this, the best part of the whole camp (besides the arcade). Sandcastle building! My group (yes, my group. I was group leader, after all. [You can kill me but you can't kill my ego]), consisting of moi, Daniel, Darrell, Demel, Archbishop, Louis, Yong Jun, Jarrel and Kevin (Wong), built the winning sandcastle/sandsculpture. We rock!
After a quick dinner, there was nightlife - collection & classification of insects. No pubs. Not that kind of nightlife. We caught some pretty aggravated specimens. One of our hoverflies kept buzzing angrily against its container.
The best part of this activity was walking back in the moonlight. I have never done that before and I must say it was quite enthrilling. Shame I had to step into the @#$%@^! puddle of mud.
Day 2 - The day of the second, because it was the second day, after all
Demel is a difficult roommate. One, he keeps having pillow fights, and two, he says goodnight. Often. Every 5 seconds. Oh well. At least I sleep like a log. B-log.
Archbishop kept calling early in the morning. He allegedly woke up at 0515 hrs everyday. Would it kill Jun Yi to wake up an hour later, when we were supposed to?
Anyway, breakfast was... actually breakslow, because of the humongous queues. Come to think of it, all the meals had long queues, so it doesn't really matter. Unless you're at the back. Starving.
After breakfast was beach ecology, which meant collecting shells with different shapes. We weren't to catch hermit crabs till thursday, but we're dealing with ACS boys here. Do you really think they would pass up such a chance? About a dozen students brought hermit crabs back to their rooms, and I was chaos with Archbishop. His crab escaped and rampaged all over his and Jun Yi's bed (they were rooming together) and Jun freaked out and jumped about yelling.
Back to the beach. Darrell actually ate sushi there. Real sushi. Real LIVE sushi. He had caught four small fry, and for some reason, picked one and swallowed it whole. A live raw fish. A LIVE RAW FISH!!! *faints*
After another queued lunch, it was off to the Kota Tinggi Nature Reserve, about an hour's journey. There, we learnt about the different forest flora, and about pond fauna. We had to catch marine animals, and that's where the fun came in. We caught about a dozen pond skaters, but let almost all of them go. (Gaaah, Demel!) Ten prawns were locked in captivity, as were a water beetle and a damselfly nymph. We let them all go of course. Eventually.
The buffet dinner was quick, as usual. I never eat slowly at buffets. And you know why it's called buffet? Because whe you stand in line, you're buffeted against the flow of the crowd!
Anyway, after dinner was group presentations, and we were supposed to present on what our favourite activity was up till then. We presented on the sand sculpting. I mean, it was fun, and we won. But more importantly, we won. I was the speaker, and I tell you, I got such a case of the jitters before our presentation that I almost got stage fright. Almost.
Day 3 - The day of the Voyage of the Firefly
I will stop typing about meals from now on because it is a very slow topic.
Following breakfast was a delightful friendly soccer and volleyball match between our school and the local Sports School. Unfortunately, they mixed our teams with their teams, so there were elements of both schools on either side. So we didn't know who to cheer for. Aren't teachers ingenius? *loaded with sarcasm* So finally, the score was 5-1. We trashed us. Or, they trashed themselves. Or did we trash them? Or they us? See, confusion.
After this grueling task of cheering, we had free time. No, you saw correctly. We actually had free time.
OK, we had free time. Which was cool, cos I got to play pool with Kev, Daniel and Darrell. I stank. Daniel was OK. Darrell was OK. Kevin was great. Henry and Josh were playing before us and they ROCKED! I didn't know they could play so well.
Oh, and Sheu Zhi was a wizard on the KoF machine. KoF means King of Fighter. 2000 version. He had a 18 point winning streak that day. He beat Demel. The ultimate. Three times. Maybe more. Woah.
After that we went to Kota Tinggi town, where we went shopping. Now, don't get me wrong, I hate shopping, but we had to buy stuff for the charity bazzar next week. So we bought Chinese New Year Cards. Wowee. Sir bought coffee. Odd choice, but I suppose he has his reasons... I can't say the trip was a total waste of time, but even though the arcade was located on the seventh and last floor, even though there was nothing on the floors between the third and the seventh, even though the only way up was through the mini-mart because the other escalator was broken, almost everyone ended up at the arcade. Must be animal magnetism.
We had dinner outside that day. As in, inside a Chinese restaraunt, outside the hotel. Was a nice change from buffet, but Darrell the Sushi Eater didn't dare shell a prawn. *sigh*
Fireflies that night. We were split from the main group of our class. Lucky I was with Myself. Me. Kevin. Wong. That one. I was PUNching him throughout the journey with lame jokes. He has never endured a constant barrage of PUNchlines before and I think he was on the verge of throwing himself overboard.
The fireflies were cool, but not only because they don't produce heat. But I expected more out of that boat ride. Arrr! So you dared brave the perils of the voyage of the fireflies? *in a corny pirate accent*
Day 4 - The second from last day
We went hermit crab hunting immediately after breakfast. Added a few more to our collection. Mr. Shepard told us of a beach in England, where the tide comes in under the sand. So you could be standing there one minute, and the next, WHOOSH! You're wiped from the face of the earth. Don't you get that sinking feeling just thinking about it?
Boy, I can really draw. Kevin Wong, I mean. His hermit crab sketches looked so nice! Mine stank.
After lunch was a treasure hunt. Simple, just follow the arrows. It was a harrowing experience, I can tell you that. It got us all cross. But in the end, we were one of the few teams that managed to safely retrieve the treasure without eating it on the way back. Yay!
After that we had more free time.
Don't get your undies in a twist. More free time. Sheesh. Metal Slug 5 was completed another 5 times, and Sheu Zhi had a 28 point Streak in KoF. Again. (Muhaha Demel Rubbing it in your face)
The day's dinner was quite nice, conidering it was barbercue. However, I lost quite a bit of my appetite after spotting the giant swarm of flies hovering over the raw food. Yuck.
As it was the last day, they made us do a presentation after dinner. You know how teachers are like: asking you to do a presentation because they want you to know what you learnt but they couldn't care less what you know. Ya know? Shaun presented this one because I didn't want to go near that mike again. Demel shouted "SHUT UP!" about halfway through because the Mainstreamers were discriminating us. Again. I'll blog about this another time, but for now...
We won the prize for 3rd best group and cinched the sandcastle victory. Booyah! Third place prize was keychains and 1st place prize was chocolates, presumably bought from the souvenir shop near the reception.
Day 5 - The Day of the Last
Boohoo! The last day at last! *sobs* Most of the morning was spent planting... plants (wow, you'd have never guessed) and I stuck a stick with "2.12 2005" written on it into the soil. I just hope it doesn't get removed or trampled or eroded or decayed...
Following this environmentally friendly activity, we had more free time.
Calm down. People would think you'd never had free time before. Sheesh. Sheu Zhi maintained an 11 point winning streak (I'm not sure about this one) but he still used Mai. Oh, didn't I tell you? He used Mai, Yuri, Terry and Vanessa. Winning combination. He had to do a random team once against Demel, but unfortunately got Mai again. Unfortunate for Demel, that is.
After lunch it was time to go home. I wished OEP could have gone on forever. Oh well.
Stuff I can't fit into one day
I guess I owe my great time during OEP to my teammates: Kevin Wong, Daniel, Darrell, Demel, Louis, Yong Jun, Archbishop, Jarrel, and last but not least, me. But seriously, my teammates were the best: funloving, loyal, enthusiastic, and we got on really well. I want to say a public thank you to my teammates, because they rocked. Seriously.
Thanks for actually getting to the end of this ridiculously long blog post. Terimah Kasih! (is is spelt like that?)
As you may have gathered from above, OEP was extremely fun and I hope we could do it again sometime. Right, off we go...

(is is spelt like that?)

iGot a New Computer
Since iHave got a new computer, iWill type in the ways of the iPod. So there.
Finally, iHave a new computer. At long last! iCan finally play games! Whoopee!
The problem with a new computer is that there is so much to change. Or add. Or modify. It really stinks. iHave to reinstall MSN messenger, get my files up and running, configure the desktop, and get used to Windows xP.
School is getting very stressful. Being Class Chairman is not all it's cracked up to be. iAm getting very stressed at the amount of tasks iHave to do. Not at all entertaining. Not that the class is making life any easier. Every day, every hour, iHave to quieten the class, either by shouting or by individually... er... "silencing" them *ahem ahem*. Herrick, thankfully, has stopped slamming the table to get order, but the cheeko group around Applehead, ZQ Isaac, Job and Gideon keep making noise. Too much noise. With two prefects, you'd expect them to keep quiet, but noooo...
Gosh, this computer is really fast. The speed rocks! iLOVE 1GB RAM! YAY!
iWill have OEP next week - that's Overseas Education Programme to those who don't know - so iWon't be blogging for a couple of days. Or technically a week. iGet very confused.
Will Uncle Edna manage to keep his class quiet? Will he survive the OEP? Does this pair of pants make me look fat? Find out in the continuing adventures of - Uncle Edna in school!

Shrouded in Controversy...
That's Applehead's quote. Why he calls himself Applehead I don't know...
Don't you hate it when people use eclipsis...? I mean, it just goes to show that the writer is... sort of better than you, and kind of leaves some suspense... or you might feel that he is leaving out some type of important information...
Anyway, the "Shrouded in Controversy" bit is mainly concerning the Dirtyjerzpage controversy that has been circulating around most of my contact's blogs (most of them who post regularly, anyway *hint hint*).
Demel has actually hit the nail on the head. He's right, I'm wrong. The world isn't divided into people who donate and misers. People who donate may just be jumping onto the bandwagon, or just donating for the sake of donating. Also, not everyone who doesn't donate isn't miserly.
Gosh, this topic is really getting us thinking, isn't it? One person types something different, and soon, most of the blogging population has ideas, topics and discussions. I mean, how often can you find a bunch of thirteen-year-olds who frequently blog about philosophical death, human psychology and current events? Not many. I mean, if someone can write something with so much thought, and he's only thirteen, then, well... what is this world coming to... =P
Oh well. It doesn't matter. I've given up on trying to find the machine guns, tanks, and the nuclear warhead already. Jay, you got off the hook. This time.

Oh. My. Goodness.
There are idiots in the world, we all know that. It could be your boss, your teacher, your friend, that guy in the bookstore. (I'm not implying anything here... yet.) The problem is, we don't know how many actually populate the earth... until now.
On the 4th of Janurary 2005, one of the countless idiots of the world reared his ugly head. He calls himself "Jay", and seems similar to, in every likeness, the Grinch, although he has one less heart that the Ace of Hearts, and his crime is worse, far worse than trying to steal Christmas. You can visit his blog here. I won't type anything on my page because his post(s) contain several vulgarities. (So it's NC-16)
I don't usually criticise other people's blogs. Like ZQ said in a private conversation, "It's freedom of speech, so I'm not going to comment." However, there is a thin line between "Freedom of Speech" and "Gone over the deep end".
I've got to go now, it's getting late, but I just want to say this. Even with all the stupidity in this world, with all the coldheartedness, and the ignorance, it's just lucky that there are more people who are kind, who care, who are generous and giving. I'm not Christian, but you don't have to be religious to know how to give. To know how to care. To know how to help. Just remember, there are people less fortunate than you, and there's nothing wrong with giving a helping hand. Imagine, if you were one of the tsunami victims right now. You're family's gone. You have no food. No drink. Your house is in ruins. You only manage to survive by pushing yourself day after day: Don't die. There will be some good out of this. You fear that another killer wave is going to hit you. You might die. You might starve. You might die of thirst. You might die of grief.
OK, I'm getting too philosiphical, but remember this. Just because you are an American, or British, or German, or French, or Spanish, or Japanese, or Iraqi, or Chinese, or Malay, or from any country, race or religion. You can make a difference. No matter how small, you can make a difference. Have a heart. Make a difference. Change history. For the better.
This is my first post that I haven't included any humour, but I feel that it is better to get my point across that to have you laughing. Please post your comments, not on my Tagboard, but on the post itself; I want to read them cast in stone.
To Jay, I only say this: You're lucky none of the tsunami victims have access to a computer, the Internet, machine guns, tanks or a nuclear warhead. You're lucky that only a small number of people know about this. You're lucky none of the people of the above have machine guns, tanks or a nuclear warhead. You're lucky you didn't get hit at all. You're lucky you even have a computer to blog your stupid thoughts on. You're lucky. Very lucky. But one day, your luck will run out.

On the 5th day of Sec 2, my teacher gave to me...
NO HOMEWORK! YEAH!
4 Lit Reviews
3 pages zhuo ye
Commonwealth Essay
An assignment and a zhou ji
Well, it's the fifth day of school, and *thankfully* I didn't get any homework.
Nothing much to report, but I'd thought I'd blog anyhow.

Computer Crash Course
Phew... haven't blogged for a week...
The reason I haven't blogged is because mt computer monitor crashed (the CPU still works though) so I couldn't use it. Bleh.
School has started again, and there are three Malaysian students in my class. That's OK...
Sec 2's quite cool, considering the fact that I've got a whole lot of new teachers and all my textbooks are optional...
I hope my UYO doesn't start till next week... it's so tough...
I've got to stop using eclipsis...
Ok that's it. See ya...

Earthquakes are shaky business...
More tsunamis rocked the world. Another magnetude 6 tremor. News broadcasts filled with pictures of dead bodies, rotting bodies...
That is the truth of life. The earth is very unstable. One minute you could be swimming in the ocean, the next you'd be more than slightly dead.
This is a very sensitive topic, which probably involves the views of religion and philosophy, and you'd probably know more from the news than me, so I'll move on to more light-hearted things.
I went to two dentists today. The first was for basic tooth polishing and maintainence, the other was for checking whether I needed braces. Although I have had tooth polishings many times before, I still marvelled at the dental ability to place an incredible number of equipment into my mouth at the same time. There were at least two vacuums, a mirror and a scalpel. The dentist was looking down in the mouth. Really, she was. It's the tooth! Er... I mean, truth.
And I need braces. And an operation. Apparently I have a embedded premolar in my gum. But I still need braces. =( It's gonna hurt...
Well, that's it. Just remember, tsunamis are dangerous since they attack in waves...

It's Boxing Day. Want some Punch?
No, no. Fruit punch. Nah, it's okay. It's a mistake anyone would make.
Today is my niece's first birthday. Actually, it's the second, because the day you were born is your first birthday, but not everyone is as logical as me, so let's just say it's her first birthday so we're in corelation with world international standard.
My cousin held the party at McDonald's, which was a big mistake, because, I feel, half the people he invited have no idea what to eat at McDonald's. Also, sorry if I mention this, but his friends all talked quite loudly. And annoyingly. Loudly.
Oh, I watched the Pirated Version of Kung Fu Hustle today. Cool, huh? Except that people kept walking in front of the camera and it skipped a lot of the first part.
Kung Fu Hustle is... well, I'll give it a three star rating. The plot isn't really that good... I mean, there isn't much of a plot. Just lots of special effects and Kung Fu moves. If you like movies with soppy stroylines, then watch something else. If you like movies like The Matrix, watch this movie.
OK that's it for now. See ya!

It's Finally Christmas.
IT'S CHRISTMAS AT LAST! One of the best holidays of the year, even for non-Christians. It's not so much the presents as it is the feasts. (Wow, did I just type that? I'm really getting too old.)
This year I only got 3 presents so I'm not that happy... oh well... must not complain... at least I got something. Hope you all got better presents than me!
My father still went to tennis today. On Christmas. He seem s very devoted. I think they'll get drunk with eggnog. By the way, has anyone ever tasted eggnog yet? I'm still too young...
It's not like you really feel the Christmas spirit in Singapore. There's no snow, for one thing, and we don't have any chimneys, for another. There's no real fir trees, only the lights, and no fireplaces to hang stockings over. A popular local belief is that Santa has to climb up the rubbish chutes to deliver presents to our apartment blocks.
I can't believe that so many people are home and on the Internet on Christmas. Guess we don't have any toys to play with anymore on Christmas. We're too old. People instist on giving us books.
Oh well... a week left to school reopening... the last week of the holidays... I always hate this time... trying to cram in all the work I haven't done... I still have half my Chinese homework to do...*yikes*
Read this nice Christmas poem I have since two Christmases ago... you may have seen it before, but it's still very funny... and true...
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house
not a creature was stirring, except father's mouse.
The computer was humming; the icons were hopping,
As father did last-minute Internet shopping.
The stockings were hung next to the modem with care
in the hope that Santa would bring new software.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
With visions of computer games filling their heads.
Dark Forces for Billy, Doom II is for Dan,
Carmen Sandiego for Pamela Ann.
The letters to Santa had been sent out by mom,
To santa@toyshop.northpole.com –
Which now had been re-routed to Washington State
Where Santa's workshop had been moved by Bill Gates.
All the elves and the reindeer had had to ske-daddle
To flashy new quarters in suburban Seattle.
After living a life that was simple and spare,
Santa now finds that he's a new billionaire,
With a shiny red Porsche in place of his sleigh,
And a house on Lake Washington just down the way.
From where Bill has his mansion, and the old fellow preens
In black Gucci boots and red Calvin Klein jeans.
The elves have stock options and desks with a view,
Where they write computer code for Johnny and Sue.
No more dolls or tin soldiers or little toy drums
will be under the tree, only compact disk ROMs
with the Microsoft label. So spin up your drive,
From now on Christmas runs only on Win95.
More rapid than eagles the competitors came,
and Bill whistled, and shouted, and called them by name.
"Now, ADOBE! now, CLARIS! now, INTUIT! too,
Now, APPLE! and NETSCAPE! You’re all of you through,
It's Microsoft's SANTA that the kids can't resist,
It's the ultimate software with a traditional twist -
Recommended by no less than the jolly old elf,
And on the package, a picture of Santa himself.
Get 'em young, keep 'em long, is Microsoft's theme,
And a merger with Santa is a marketer's dream.
To the top of the NASDAQ! To the top of the Dow!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away - wow!"
And mum in her 'kerchief and me in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
The whir and the hum of our satellite platter,
As it turned toward that new Christmas star in the sky,
The SANTALITE owned by the Microsoft guy.
As I sprang from my bed and was turning around,
My computer turned on with a Jingle-Bells sound.
And there on the screen was a smiling Bill Gates
Next to jolly old Santa, two arm-in-arm mates.
And I heard them exclaim in voices so bright,
HAVE A MICROSOFT CHRISTMAS, and TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT.
OK. Going to see what other people blog on Christmas...
Update 9:30PM : Just watched Finding Nemo on the Disney Channel. (Shame the way I spend Christmas.) It's a great show, but I'm not going to bore you with the synopsis (because obviously you've watched it already). I noticed that not every one of my friends blogs n Christmas, so that is a small consolation. (It means that everyone should be off the Net and playing with toys - that's good. Or at least, as normal as possible.)

It's almost Christmas!
I'm... dreaming... of a white... Christmas... because it doesn't snow in Singapore.
Sorry I haven't been blogging for a while... been playing Final Fantasy VIII and it ROCKS!
Christmas is tomorrow, so I hope everybody will get what they wished for...
Isn't it great that we get Christmas earlier than the people in the Americas, and are able to call them on the telephone and gloat?
My bro is now officially in ACS(I). Just got registered two days ago. Since he's in the IP programme, he's got a ton of books, including Sec 2 Maths. Wow. We only learned Sec 2 maths in... Sec 2. Or at least, we are going to...
And it's so unfair that he has a wonderful book for Lit. Actually, he has three, so I shouldn't complain much, but he has Haroun and the Sea of Stories. That is one of my favourite books! How can they have Haroun and the Sea of Stories for Lit? It's just not fair. =(
Oh well... Happy Christmas and Merry New Year!

I'm cross. Really cross.
I recently saw a sign saying Merry X'mas. MERRY X'MAS! What is this, an abbriviation sign? Not enough space to even spell out the word Christmas? And what's with the X? I mean, can "christ" really be replaced with "X"? Really, so you're a Xian. What's your name? Oh, Xopher! And your sister is called Xina! How nice! What nice name your parents Xened you with! Dosen't that sound stupid? (If you really have no idea what I'm typing about, try exhcanging the X with "Christ".
Anyway, my cousin came over and showed us how to play Final Fantasy VIII (8 if you can't count Roman). Yes, it's old, but it's all she's got. It's quite fun, but really long-drawn. And I'm not talking about the swords.
Yay! Now I can play a rhythm-and-blues piece by... er... I forgot. But anyway, I can officially play it now, and it sounds great.
Bleargh... 3 hour tuition tomorrow... argh...

Readers, Digest This!
...because today I'm reviewing Reader's Digest's new book, The Reverse Dictionary.
Now, I bet you're wondering, what the heck is a Reverse Dictionary? Well, as the Editors put it, "The Reverse Dictionary is above all a word-finder. Its purpose is to identify the precise word fo an idea that may be in your mind but you cannot express."
This book is fantastic because it has, simply put, everything. Or at least, everything you can think of. Let's say you're writing a detective story. You know that every thief or villian has a specific method of operation: how he breaks into a house, how he usually disposes of a corpse, for instance. But what you cannot remember is what the technical word for it is. So, searching the Reverse Dictionary for the word "method" will give you the answer: Modius Operandi.
It also serves as a vocabulary builder. Say you are still writing that detective story, and one of the characters has a distinguishing characteristic. Maybe a phobia, for example. Under phobia, there is a chart, listing some phobias. Fear of old age is gerascophobia, fear of a name or particular word is onomatophobia, and fear of horses is hippophobia (which is a bit weird).
There are also helpful diagrams. Need to know how to tie a cat's paw knot? What is the pointy part of a brilliant full cut diamond called? What roof shapes are there? Where is the fore topgallant sail on a sailing ship? What does a fleury cross look like? The answers to all these can be found in the Reverse Dictionary.
Simply put, this book rocks! And have yourself, a Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year!

Whose Line is it Anyway? Mine?
Whee! Another OM meeting today! But the best part was: it was a movie party... er... meeting... thingy... sort of.
We watched Whose Line is it Anyway for about half the time we were at Gid's house. I laughed about three-quarters of the time I was there. I think. That's the beauty of laughter. When you laugh so much, you never really keep track of time.
Oh, and I finally met Demel's cousin. She's from Australia and looks more like Demel's brother than him. But she's only 72 hours older than Demel. Or something like that. That's the beauty of laughter. When you laugh so much, you never really keep track of time.
Gid's dog is called Socks. Not a bad name for a cow, but for a dog... er...
(No, seriously, some cows have white "socks" just above their hooves.)
That's basically it today. Nothing much happened. Been a bit boring lately. Or was that yesterday? That's the beauty of laughter. When you laugh so much, you never really keep track of time.
OK... See ya!

I'm feeling Sundayzed...
It's Sunday again...
I'm making up for the lack of blog posts since the last week of November... Man, I'm bored... You'd think I would have something better to do... *sigh*
I've been looking at my friends' blogs recently, and I noticed that they all CENSORED. What? The words behind that censored sign are... CENSORED
Anyway, I think that some people *coughcough* shouldn't blog with MSN-type short-form *coughcough* which makes it difficult to read *coughcough* which is aggravated by the small font size *coughcough*.
Hey! Look! A strepsil! This will help with my coughing...
Anyway, nothing new to report, except that I got my hair cut. And the carpark at Thomson Plaza was unusually full today. Carparks should have a sign over each lot saying "Leaving", and when the people park, they take this small remote, and when they are about to leave, the press the button on the remote, and the sign above their lot light up, showing that they are leaving, so other drivers know that thay can wait for this lot. (Phew, long sentence.)
Oh, there's another OM meeting this Tuesday at Demel's/Gid's house. They're neighbours so it doesn't really matter whose house we go to. We're going to watch "Who's Line is it Anyway?", one of the best shows hosting Drew Carrey (did I spell his name correctly?). Hope Packrat will be there 'cause I still have to give him his birthday present.
Ooh, Demel's cousin will be there too, and she's a girl. Ooh...
OK, that's all for now... See ya when I... er... blog again?

It was Incredible.
Bleargh... Don't you just hate it when people blog about The Incredibles movie and use some incredibly lame pun as their title? And you'd hope that finally... someone, just someone will have a better, less intelligence-insulting title?
Well.. TOO BAD. It's my blog and you can't change any of it. So boos to you.
Anyway, I just watched The Incredibles yesterday and I think {insert blog title here}.
I assume that almost everyone who is reading this has watched The Incredibles already in some way or another so I'm not going to review the plot or give subtle hints or stuff like that.
The Incredibles is your basic normal family of superheroes trying to fit into normal society. It's a great parody of many stereotyped superheroes, including the names, costumes, and physical characteristics. *coughcough* It's action packed, humourous, explosive (I'm talking about the plot; the cinema didn't explode), and all in all a great movie.
Edna Mode rocks! It's great that there is a character with the same name as my nickname! Whee!

"And it's hand-washable too, darling, that's a new feature."
-Edna Mode.
Oh, by the way, aniamted kissing is not all it's cracked up to be.
